John McLean Launches Bid for Arizona State Senate in Legislative District 17

Longtime Southern Arizona Business Leader Pledges to Restore True Public Service Values to Legislature

TUCSON, AZ – Last week, John McLean formally announced his campaign for the state senate in Legislative District 17. McLean, a longtime business leader in Southern Arizona, will face off against incumbent Senator Justine Wadsack or former Senator Vincent Leach, who are in a primary for the Republican nomination in this district.

“I’ve been a business leader in Southern Arizona for decades and I’ve witnessed firsthand how economic prosperity can transform a community. However, businesses can only prosper when our young people get a strong education and our families can afford to live,”  said John McLean,  Democratic candidate for the Senate in Legislative District 17. “Right now, the future of our great schools and thriving businesses is at stake because our state legislators have put their interests over the voters’ priorities.  I’m running because I believe in the value of true public service, and restoring commonsense values to our state.”

John McLean is a third-generation Arizona native and graduate of Arizona’s public schools. John opened an office of Areté Associates to develop cutting-edge technologies for national security. John is a proven business leader who has brought nearly $1B of economic activity to Tucson over Areté’s thirty-year history.  He has lived in Pima County for over thirty-three years and is a passionate animal advocate and environmentalist.
